He is a geologist and naturalist who now has traveled through the landscapes of more than fifty countries, yet he always returns to the mountains of Colorado. Decades of backcountry journeys have taught him that the land reveals its secrets to those who make the effort to learn its language. His writing blends science, memory, and quiet reflection, guiding readers to see the natural world—and their place within it—with fresh eyes.

Kevin writes about landscapes not simply as beautiful places to be visited and photographed, but as places to be understood.
